A small and often nondescript individual who scales buildings and other structures to maneuver around Verona. Typically the crowds, although not too prevalent, are avoided through this means. May or may not have multiple eyes hidden beneath the hair present, albeit this can itself differ visibly through use of illusions and/or shapeshifting where relevant. Ocular basis is dim, ranging from dark brown to sheer black per situation, when evident. Appears Cambodian ancestrally, although this is likely emulated through genetics. Has not yet gained in scale, perhaps restricted beneficially by the sun from reaching the size others can exhibit. May be fireproof, although has not yet shown capability to breath fire or ignite flames. Features a very poor sense of sight, reflecting on species’ background as an underground tarantula. Features potent venom that would require hospitalisation in normal individuals of the cobalt species. This is compounded further by scale, the degradation of tissue worsened through the amount produced. Carnivorous, albeit subsisting on insects and other high-protein sources, evidently to reduce need for other directions. Speaks a number of European languages, evidently not having learned languages relevant to the country of Cambodia due to having hatched outside of that range. Although cautious if threatened or becoming wary, does not act defensively very often. Only if truly threatened does she usually bite or attempt other measures, which is often followed by a rapid departure. The difference in scale between herself and most others is significant, as is the lack of visual capacity. Both may account for unease, more if cornered or neared too closely by someone unfamiliar or untrusted. Has bitten other persons if threatened significantly, which has resulted in hospital visits, or occasionally not-hospital visits due to inapplicability either by lack of records or belief. Often spins her own clothing using the silk she generates, and purchases dyes in order to stain the fabric different colours. With the excess that causes, she often passes along articles to other persons and may even sell relevant cloth through a second or third party. This allows for a degree of earnings, which is mostly kept by herself or distributed to others for further amenities. Likes to hoard candy despite not often eating it. The labels are typically viewed as aesthetic when relevant. Often buries herself in blankets when tired. Hums infrequently, more often when alone or busy. Often overlooked by others, and prefers to stay out of focus typically. Despite this, takes responsibility into account when necessary. Carries light inventory across the terrain, crawling over buildings and other structures to transfer items, notes, and monetary factors. Necessities are also obtained through this means. Picks up items that seem to have been forgotten or discarded, taking them back to one location or another for caching. Delivers items and makes errand runs where others are unable. Keeps a stock of inventory for that purpose, and keeps frequent contact with others within the network via text. As of most, does not entirely depend on currency, but still keeps an amount where necessary in order to purchase goods. Contributes to a trading system that runs across the cityscape and beyond it regarding supplies and currency. Although she does not often leave Verona, she is aware of matters from those who cross through intermittently. Cannot easily swim. Despite this, occasionally falls into the nearby river on accident. The bridges across the river are frequented when crossings are necessary. Due to occasional high traffic, she sometimes takes slight alternate routes. Only after storms or when the wind is rarely fast is this risky, but mistakes are inconsistent. |

Narrative
Came from somewhere relatively far from Verona and settled into the cityscape without much complication, living within a space for several years before that changed. Essentially, Mai burst from her terrarium. Whether or not scaring her previous guardian, she ran off shortly after that occurred. It did not take long for others to note her presence, and a lot resulted in the time after. Currently goes around during the later hours, the species she originates from being an underground variety. Actively keeps a watch for anything regarding conflict or other complications, relaying fact to certain figures when relevant. The forests of Cambodia and related territories are heavily covered by forests, in which tarantula and other species live.
Burrowing beneath the ground and emerging to catch prey, this does not exclusively include insects. Those who age enough assume a higher state of consciousness and seek out larger sources to mitigate the needs a larger form requires. Herbivorous animals and other species within a given ecosystem may encompass this requirement. However, humans are also within that range of potential. It is noted that various persons have gone missing within related terrain. The eggs that are left behind in various burrows are often mistakenly collected by persons involved in the illegal pet trade, if not caught by relevant jorogumo, and these have presumably resulted in the homes of various breeders and collectors alike. Males do not appear to differ from their original state, which is not the same case of females. There do not appear to be many reports of occurrences resulting from this situational pattern, which may be beneficial or convey potential loss of human life. |
